Paris and London!!
So recently I have traveled to both Paris and London, two places that everyone should see in their lifetime. Let’s start with Paris. The town is simply beautiful. When first getting inside the city limits from the airport, we went straight for the eiffel tower. Usually when you go see something at night (like we did) it isn’t as impressive. I would almost argue that the eiffel Tower is much more spectacular, beautiful, and breathtaking when you see it at night. It seriously is just amazing. I honestly never knew the immense detail or ornamentation that was on the structure, or the massiveness that it was. So heading from there to the first hostel was a trip in its own. It was raining and cold out so we hopped in a taxi, and then got out not really sure where the hostel was (due to the fact that the taxi drivers didn’t know either). We called the place, and they told us to go around the corner, we saw it and man, were we disapointed. NEVER stay in a place called The Three Ducks in Paris- its disgusting! To use the bathroom you have to go into a little outhouse looking thing in the courtyard of the rooms, and the rooms have a small lock that if you really wanted to break it wouldn’t be hard. We ended up staying there, but slept in our clothes and on our coats, not the blankets they gave us. We started the next morning by heading straight to our other hotel, then going to hit up a few architectural sites and well as then going up the Eiffel Tower, and heading to see Notre Dame. The Eiffel Tower was absolutely beautiful! I was nervous as could be, but it was definitely worth it to go up there.
I would say though that if you go to Paris, make sure to climb up Notre Dame as well. It was breathtaking (literally- walking all the way to the top up small stairs) and when we got up it was one of the best experiences looking out over the city when its a little gloomy and slightly raining, and then the bells start going off, and you look over and there is water coming off of one of the gargoyles mouths…. eek! Seriously one of the best times of the trip. I stayed standing there for so long that almost two of the next groups passed me while just standing there. I couldn’t get enough!
While in paris, we walked around, took a ton of pictures, ate crepes and coffee, and tried speaking the language even though we got looked at funny and people didn’t really care to listen because we were american, but it was an overall amazing trip!!
Some other places that we looked at and saw but I’ll talk about later were Versailles (AMAZING!!!) Centre Pompidou, The Louvre, Arc de Triomf, The Gothic Quarters, Tado Ando’s Meditation Space, Building by Jean Nouvel, Parc de la Vilette, and a few more little places…
I know that this says london on it too, but that will come tomorrow. Pictures from Paris will be next, and then london! keep a look out and more to come =) (give me some slack im still trying to figure this all out)
